Internship Logs - Day 9 | IDESS IT

Image
Today was a fun and creative day because we officially started designing our project! Our goal is to give it a modern look—a big upgrade from the outdated UI of the old system. I really enjoyed working in Figma since UI design is something I love doing. Sketching out wireframes, choosing the right colors, and creating a clean and user-friendly interface made the whole process exciting for me. It’s a nice break from just coding all the time, and it reminded me how much I love designing interfaces. Looking forward to seeing our design come to life in code soon!  (And as always, here’s my daily selfie outside 📸)

Today, we finally got to explore the old project that we’re going to recreate, and wow—it really shows its age. 😅 The UI looks very outdated since it was originally built back in 2013, and the framework used isn’t even commonly used for projects anymore. With that in mind, we started planning our approach for rebuilding the project. We discussed: ✅ How we’ll structure the project ✅ How the mobile UI should look (a much-needed modern upgrade!) ✅ Setting up GitHub for coding collaboration ✅ Accessing their existing database It’s exciting to finally start working on the actual project, and I can’t wait to see how we’ll transform it into something fresh and modern using React Native and the MERN stack. Let’s go! 🚀 (And as always, here’s my daily selfie outside 📸)

Finally! I completed the React Native tutorial I was following, and I successfully built a simple app. 🎉 It feels great to have something functional that I can refer back to once we officially start working on our assigned project. Going through the tutorial helped me understand how React Native components, navigation, and state management work. Now, I feel a bit more confident about tackling the actual project. Of course, there’s still a lot to learn, but at least I now have a solid foundation to build on. I’m excited (and a little nervous) to finally dive into the real project soon! Let’s see how it goes. 🚀 (And yes, here’s my daily selfie outside! 📸)

Today, I realized that Tailwind CSS isn’t so bad after all!  I’m actually starting to enjoy it, and I can see that I’ve made progress in learning how to use it efficiently. Instead of constantly checking the docs, I’m now getting familiar with the utility classes, which makes styling much faster and cleaner. On another note, the web development team officially started working on their project today. Interestingly, their project is the same as ours, but they’ll be using React.js, which is the stack I’m more comfortable with. Meanwhile, I’m here in mobile development, working with React Native. At first, I felt a little bummed because React.js is my thing—but honestly, I see this as a new opportunity to expand my skills. Learning React Native will only make me better as a developer, and who knows? I might even end up loving mobile development! Excited to see how things go in the coming days!  (And of course, here’s my daily selfie outside as always. 📸)

Today was exhausting. 😩 I spent most of my time working with Tailwind CSS, which I’m not really used to since I never used it in my school projects. Instead of the usual CSS or styled-components I’m familiar with, Tailwind feels very different—but at the same time, it’s starting to grow on me. To keep up, I had to constantly check the Tailwind documentation, searching for the right utility classes to apply the styles I needed. It was frustrating at first, but the more I used it, the more I realized how clean and manageable it makes the code. Instead of writing long CSS files, I could just apply short, meaningful class names directly in my components. By the end of the day, I still felt tired but accomplished. Tailwind might take some time to get used to, but I can definitely see why so many developers love it. Hoping tomorrow will be a bit easier! 😆 (And as usual, here’s my daily selfie outside! 📸)

Today was a learning day for me. I spent most of my time watching YouTube tutorials on how to build an app using React Native. While I’ve worked with React.js before in my school projects, React Native has some key differences—especially when it comes to handling components and navigation. But overall, I found it fun because the same logic still applies! Of course, no coding session is complete without coffee ☕—and today, I had two cups. I’m starting to realize that my coffee intake is increasing, and I really hope there will be a day when I don’t need three cups just to function. 😆 But for now, caffeine is my best friend as I try to absorb all this new knowledge. Excited to get hands-on with coding soon! (And yes, as always, here’s my daily selfie outside since office photos are off-limits. 📸)

Today was a real challenge. 😅 As someone new to full-stack development , setting up the entire development environment was quite a struggle. From configuring VS Code , setting up the frontend to backend , and connecting the backend to the database , it felt like I was navigating through uncharted territory. At first, I tried figuring things out on my own, but frustration started to creep in. So, I did what any stressed developer would do— grab a cup of coffee. ☕ (By the way, we have free coffee in the office, which is a lifesaver! 😆). After a short break, I decided to ask my teammates for help. Turns out, I was the only one struggling with this part because the rest of my team are already experienced full-stack developers . At first, I felt a bit behind, but their guidance helped me understand how to properly set things up. By the end of the day , I finally got my working environment up and running ! It was a tough start, but I know this is just part of the learning process. I’...

Internship Logs - Day 2 | IDESS IT

Day 2 at IDESS Interactive Technologies was all about getting to know the key people who will be guiding us through our internship journey. Today, we met the Team Lead of the Programming Department and our Team Project Manager —both of whom will play a crucial role in mentoring us throughout the project development process . It’s reassuring to have experienced professionals to turn to whenever we need guidance. Since our project involves React Native with the MERN Stack , and some of us (including myself) aren’t fully familiar with it yet, we’ve been asked to self-study the tech stack first. This means diving into documentation, tutorials, and hands-on practice to get comfortable with the tools we’ll be using. It’s a bit overwhelming, but also exciting—learning a new framework is always an opportunity for growth! For now, my focus is on understanding React Native’s fundamentals , setting up the development environment, and exploring how it works with MongoDB, Express, and Node.js....

Today marked the first day of my internship at IDESS Interactive Technologies ! 🚀 It started with some important formalities—signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) , which means I won’t be sharing any sensitive company details. We were also given an overview of what to expect throughout our On-the-Job Training (OJT) . One of the most exciting parts of the day was learning about the project we’ll be working on. I’ve been assigned to mobile development , and we’ll be using React Native with the MERN Stack to recreate and improve their old projects . It’s a great opportunity to apply what I’ve learned and dive deeper into full-stack mobile development. Since photos inside the office aren’t allowed, I’ll be posting my daily selfie outside to document my journey. Here’s to an exciting learning experience ahead!
